We booked a dive package in advance with Red Sail for our trip to Aruba last year. We purchased three days of 2-tank diving and a sunset cruise. They threw in a free t-shirt as part of the deal. The prices compared well with other shops on the island.
The shop is conveniently located on the beach, with the dive boats nearby and accessible. Everything was paid for and confirmed in advance, so we just had to show up with our c-cards.
Nice Shop
We went by the day before just to check things out and make sure we were set. We had a little bit of a wait to talk with someone, because it was pretty crowded. The service was professional and courteous and they have a nice, large shop with accessories, t-shirts, and swimsuits.
We actually ended up diving only two days because I developed some ear problems. However, they worked with us to let us swap out our third pre-paid dive day for the use of a wave runner and a credit in their store.
Good Diving
We had two good days of diving and went out on two different boats. Both were well equipped and roomy. I was very pleased with their dive operation, from beginning to end - a welcome contrast from the dive operator we used the previous year in Aruba.
The dive masters were top-notch and provided an overall fun and friendly atmosphere. They were flexible in choices of dive sites and made sure we were well briefed before each dive.
The Antilla Wreck was really good. It's so big and open, it's easy to swim all through it. We were well versed on her history before arriving at the dive site.
Our divemaster took us to a huge anemone that she had discovered the week before. The diving was nicely paced and we had some great photo opportunities. The timing of our dive was perfect. We were finishing up just as two boatloads of snorkelers arrived - don't know if that was chance or good planning.
Sunset Cruise
Our last experience of the week with the Red Sail crew was on a sunset cruise. We did have to wait on the dock several minutes past our scheduled departure time while they unloaded and cleaned up the catamaran from the full load of afternoon snorkelers. However, the crew worked quickly to get her clean and ready for us and soon we were off on a great early evening sail. Beware - there is a GIANT step required to get onboard the boat. The large catamaran was smooth, the music was good, and the rum drinks and snacks were plentiful.
We had a great time partying and watching the sun drop into the ocean. It was a perfect ending to a great week on and under the water.
I highly recommend Red Sail Sports and will definitely be diving with them again.
